CHIEF RAIN-IN-THE-FACE (1835-1905)
Rain-in-the-Face (Itonagaju) was fearless Sioux warrior leader and a well- known chief from the Grand River Region. His name came fron a childhood incident where after he defeated an older Cheyenne boy in a fight, his face was covered in blood, so it looked like the blood "rained" on his face. Before every battle he usually painted his face like an eclipse of the sun, half black and half red. Rain -in -the-Face mostly believed to be the one who killed Lt.Col Custer in the battle of the little Bighorn.
