VIKING SWORD-GODFRED
Named for the feared 8th century Viking raider, our Godfred Sword (SH1010) is built around a beautifully patterned folded steel blade to replicate the pre-9th century originals. The interwoven leather grip, complemented by a Damascus guard and pommel, is matched by the leather-covered wood scabbard with bronze detailing and integral belt hooks. Superbly balanced, due to the deeply fullered distal tapered blade profile, the Godfred is a true tribute to the legendary Norse smiths. . GRIP: LEATHER WRAP
The Scramasax (SH1075), carried by the Saxons and Vikings between the 4th and 10th centuries, was utilized as both a tool and a weapon. Carried horizontally at the back of the belt, the Scramasax provided the spearman with a close-quarters weapon when needed, and its broad blade could handle many day-to-day chores. The ancestry of the Scramasax, which evolved from similar weapons in bronze (and later iron) used by the Celts, is portrayed in the decoration of the guard and pommel. PARRYING DAGGER - STEEL
These 17th century Renaissance Ring Daggers, believed to be of Italian origin, are available in with either a classic steel (SH1216) or gilded (SH1217) finish. This style of dagger, which doubled as a main gauche in rapiers duels, was often exquisitely decorated, as in the case of these pieces. A chiseled pommel and guard compliment the wire-wrapped grip with its turk’s-head knots. The 10 ¼” blade is beautifully pierced and fullered in the same pattern as the original. A black leather scabbard, with decorated fittings to match the dagger, is included.
The Stiletto (SH1221) replicates a late 17th century piece from a private collection. Designed exclusively as a thrusting weapon, the stiletto was widespread in the period when upper-class civilian dress often incorporated mail or leather body armour. The triangular section 9-1/2” blade is complemented by a buffalo horn grip, with the pommel and guard finials in the form of spirally carved pine cones. A silver-mounted leather-covered sheath is provided. GRIP: BUFFALO HORN
