Ra was usually shown as a falcon-headed man wearing a golden sun disc. As Ra-Horakhty, he was the morning sun and as Atum-Ra, he was the evening sun. The names of other creator gods were linked to Ra because the sun was the greatest life-giving power known to the ancient Egyptians. They believed that gods were made from the sweat of Ra and that people were made from his tears.
