Depictingcharacters who were involved in the first voyage in 1492, and some of the natibe Americans Columbus and his successors were to meet.
Representing the European side:- Columbus is the king, and isabell of Castile the queen. Amerigo Vespucci and Fray Diego de Deza are the bishops. Martin Alonso Pinzon and Vincent Danez Pinzon of Palos are the two knights with the Santa Maria as the Castles and Spanish Seamen as pawns.
On the American side:- Wmpror Montezuma II of the Aztecs is the king, and an Inca Sun Virgin the queen. For the bishops there is a Mayan Priest and and Aztec High Priest. The knights are represented by an Inca Warrior and a chief from the Southeastern Indians. The castles are the Temple of Kukulcan at Chichen Itza and the pawns are Carib indians.

The height of the king is 61/2" (16.4cm). This chess set is made in the UK and is fully hand painted to a very detailed finish. Seen here on a CB213 board (not included), square size 60mm.
